Sodium Hydroxide, or NaOH, is a synthetic mineral chemical substance derived and manufactured through the chemical process of brine electrolysis of sodium chloride solution. Sodium Hydroxide is a highly alkaline ingredient that acts as a buffering agent that helps balance the pH levels of products, ensuring optimal results all the while preserving their active ingredients. It can also serve as an excellent denaturant that helps to break down dirt and other impurities from the skin! It's powerful stuff! Sodium Hydroxide in our formulas does not undergo animal testing.
